The broad thought behind the issue I’ve chosen for this project is that in a time like the one we are living in now, art needs to be made and consumed by everyone. I’m focusing on how representation in media/pop culture can affect public opinions about minority groups. Currently I’ve honed in on graphic novels, but I haven’t ruled out other forms of media. While making this map I was taking into consideration just the basics of who this applies to, who holds the power in this particular media, and what barriers there might be. The “root cause” section is a little strange because I’m not exactly addressing an issue yet, so I just put down what I could think of as a brainstorming exercise.
